Federation Square - Atrium

The Atrium Flinders Street entrance, Federation Square.

An interesting entrance through the fractal facade.

Construction detail of one of the ways in which the many isosceles triangles are connected together in the fractal facade.

Federation Square was designed by Lab architecture studio in conjunction with Bates Smart as a response to a design competition for a new civic centre for Melbourne. Completed in 2002, Federation Square was once deemed impossible to build due to its location, proportions and of course its design.
